The Soul Man: Wesley Jonathan

WJ and The Tylers

WJ and Me!

I was invited to an exclusive Meet-and-Greet with Wesley Jonathan.  He is such a down-to-earth soul. The event took place on June 17th at the W hotel in Atlanta and was hosted by Lamar and Ronnie Tyler from Black and Married With Kids.  Wesley Jonathan was touring to promote the T.V. show The Soul Man with Cedric The Entertainer and Niecy Nash.  The second season starts on Wednesday, June 19th on TV Land.
Here are some video clips from the event:

HERadventure

I had the pleasure of being a part of a screening of the upcoming video/game HERadventure. I would like to start by shouting out all of the Natural Hair wearing, Sci-Fi Sistas in the video.
I was so impressed by the OUT-OF-THIS-World motion art and how graphically well everything was presented.  I am so glad to see Sci-Fi based video and gaming dedicated to empowering women and broading the range of women with Natural Hair.  Yes! There are Afro-Geeks out there! (lol) I am looking forward to giving this game a test run upon it's release!

A little bit about HERadventure:
"HERadventure... a cutting edge, interactive science fiction story telling experience experience combining film, gaming, and social media to empower women. This innovative concept, created by an award-winning mother-daughter filmmaking team, sponsored by Spelman College, and backed by the National Endowment for the Arts, will made it's official debut at SXSW 2013."

Press On Nails (Review)

This item was sent to me for review by Influenster (VoxBox).

Sistah Buttah

I have purchased several containers of this awesome product.  I have extremely dry skin and in the winter suffer from eczema.  I am really loving this product by The Sistah Chick.  Her organic blend of Shea Butter and Essential Oils is whipped, fluffy,  and light.   It comes in various scents including mango, lavender, and lemongrass.  It is not too heavy on the skin.   I can use this product year round.  I am really satisfied. Make sure to make this investment into beautiful skin and hair!

Tasty Kakes: Kandy Bar Kakes Review (Influenster)

VoxBox

Finally the weather here in Georgia is getting and staying warmer!  Yay!  A lot of companies are eagerly promoting products that will help improve our lives and give us products that will hopefully make us repeat customers.  I have been honored to receive the Spring-Summer VoxBox by Influenster (http://www.influenster.com/).

The box contained beauty products as well as this neat little Tasty Kake.
Photo:  Google Images

I gave the candy bar a try, along with three of my co-workers.  We broke the bar up into 4 pieces.  Here is what we all had to say:

Co-Worker #1:
"I typically don't buy junk food.  I do like this bar though.  It tastes like a Ding Dong pastry.  The Hershey's Chocolate is really good, but the cream inside it kinda overpowers the snack in general.  It is not too sweet overall.  But really, I would eat it again."

Co-Worker #2:
"The Hershey's Chocolate part was very tasty.  I did not care for the cake part.  It was a little dry to me.  Honestly, I don't tend to buy products that contain dairy in them."

Co-Worker #3:

"It was good.  Not too sweet.  The chocolate was great!  I would buy it as a snack"

Me #4:

"I really did enjoy the Hershey's Chocolate outer covering.  The marshmallow inside was not too sweet.  The cake was okay.  It made the bar itself taste a little like cardboard box or something.  But the bar in general, if it was displayed at an event or something, I would eat it."

Well there you have it!  The Tasty Kake Kandy Bar Kake was tasted and reviewed by a group of school teachers that are true Snack-a-Holics!  They give the Hershey's Chocolate a Thumbs up, they were about in the middle of the road on the cake and the marshmallow filling.  Otherwise, I am nore than sure they would eat it again, especially if I brought it to work and put it into our office's snack basket. lol

Look out for my next post on another item from my VoxBox!

The products were provided to me for free to review from http://www.influenster.com/.  I, nor any of the participants in my post, were  paid to review nor give our opinions on the products that I received.

Celebrate Moms Everyday!

Ahhh yes! Mothers! They are our Providers, Nurturers, Caregivers, Friends, Disciplinarians, and so much more! We all LOVE our Moms. Many around the world celebrate Mother's Day yearly. They honor their mothers by giving them breakfast in bed, flowers, jewelry, cards, chocolate, and more!

I was provided this fab bracelet by Everywhere to share with my network to spread the word about Maiden Nation in conjunction with Mother's Day.  Maiden Nation features hundreds of creative women throughout the world that are working together to create ethically fashionable pieces that help to fund women's entrepreneural projects.  Please check out the other Maiden Nation designers http://www.maidennation.com/pages/designers

Bracelet by Rachel Roy

I gladly accepted the task. I began to think about how I was going to prepare this post as well as the origin of Mother's Day itself. I headed on over to Google.com to see if I could get to the bottom of this Holiday that people around the world celebrate yearly. I found this on Wikipedia.com, "The celebration of Mother's Day began in the United States in the early 20th century; it is not related to the many celebrations of mothers and motherhood that have occurred throughout the world over thousands of years, such as the Greek cult to Cybele, the Roman festival of Hilaria, or the Christian Mothering Sunday celebration. Despite this, in some countries Mother's Day has become synonymous with these older traditions." With his in mind, I reflected on how I am more of a person that likes to Celebrate year round! I don't allow the commercialism and the influences of holidays to influence when I am to LOVE and give love to others. I am a big proponent of honoring and celebrating my Mom all year long! I know that my mom loves flowers, so I take time out of the year to order and send my mom flowers JUST BECAUSE! I have a few 'adopted' grandmothers here in the Atlanta area, and I often visit, call, and buy them flowers JUST BECAUSE!

When we reflect on the words of the Ancient Books of The Bible, we see that mothers (women) were honored and treated with high esteem! Children are admonished to "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise--" (Ephesians 6:2). I truly take that to heart!

My command to you is to HONOR your MOTHER all YEAR LONG! Go ahead and buy her flowers JUST BECAUSE you LOVE HER! Take her out to dinner, call her, visit her, take her on a trip, make her breakfast, buy her a gift, etc. Make sure that while you have the blessing of having your mother, you honor her. Even if your mother is no longer here, make sure that you honor the MOTHER figure in your life!

Oh yeah, and make sure to visit www.maidennation.com to support other women around the world that are creatives, providers, and best of all MOTHERS!

Now with that said, let this song groove and inspire you!
